The 3rd Annual Flamingle at The McNinch House was the biggest one yet, with over 70 people showing up to celebrate the life and legacy of Ellen Davis, the restaurant’s late founder and flamingo enthusiast. What started as a fun, flamingo-themed gathering has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the summer.
This year, I had the chance to create a new round of original cocktails just for the occasion. Like always, the focus was on drinks that were delicious and utilized high-quality liquor and ingredients to give guests a variety of options. Another goal was to keep it easy behind the bar while still delivering something thoughtful and well-balanced in every glass.
Sir Shaker also had the opportunity to collaborate with Cathead Distillery and Empress 1908 Gin. We are very grateful for their partnership for this event and it really took it to the next level. So, if you see any of their products in a liquor store, you should definitely add it to your basket.
Here’s what we served this year:
🐝 Hive Society
Floral, refreshing, and super sippable. This one mixed Honeysuckle Vodka, St-Germain, Crème de Violette, lemon juice, and a whipped honey syrup, then topped with seltzer for that light sparkle. A solid welcome drink that felt right at home in the garden setting.
🌹 Countess Rose
This one leaned a little more refined. Elderflower Rose Gin, white cranberry peach juice, a touch of vermouth, lemon juice, Earl Grey tea, and simple syrup, finished with Prosecco. It had soft tea party energy and looked great in the glass.
🫚 Fig-ment of Imagination
A little richer and more layered. Fig Vodka, ginger liqueur, lemon juice, and a dash of bitters, topped with either ginger ale or seltzer depending on your vibe for sweetness. It caught people off guard (in a good way) and quickly became a standout.
Every year this event gets a little bigger, a little better, and a little more fun. Grateful as always to be part of it.
